BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College celebrated its 128th Commencement ceremony on Friday and among the graduates were 43 Gopher student-athletes and two graduate assistant coaches.
The student-athletes come from 13 different states or the District of Columbia with 15 of them coming from Maryland while Pennsylvania and New Jersey each had six graduates from their states. There were 12 of the student-athletes that majored in psychology and 11 that were business management while eight were in the biological sciences and five in economics.
Eliott Diehl and Josiah Meekins graduated as the first-ever four-time Landmark Conference champions for men's tennis. Diehl was selected to the All-Landmark Conference second team for doubles in 2017. Taylor Gunter was a two-time all-conference first team selection and also garnered two second-team nods for track and field while Maya Belin earned second-team recognition for field hockey in her senior year.
Wren Wakeman participated in the IHSA National Championships for the Goucher Equestrian team two times in her career. She helped the team to the national stage in 2017 and finished fifth in the walk-trot canter and then placed fourth in the event as an individual in 2019.
Elliot Wiley, who played on the men's basketball team from 2016-18, walked in the ceremony on Friday while Kiana Haskin became the first golf graduate in program history for the second-year program.
Cameron Hollek, who served as an assistant coach for the golf program for the last two years and helped the men's golf team to back-to-back Landmark Conference titles, earned his Master's Degree in Education along with Justin Stone, who served as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program for the last two years.
