READING, Pa. – Gabrielle Blazek picked up where she left off in the indoor season last year by winning the pole vault to lead the Goucher College track and field team at the Golden Wolves Rust Buster on Saturday.
Blazek, who finished second at last year's Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships in the pole vault, won the event in the season opener with hit her jump of 2.82m on her first attempt to notch the only win for the Gophers on the afternoon.
Along with Blazek on the women's side, Sydney Smith finished fourth in the long jump with a 4.91m on her fifth jump and also placed eighth in the 200m (28.77).
Blazek, Anna Gallina, Smith and Victoria Wheeler also teamed up to finish second in the 4x200m relay (1:57.91) while Estelle Chock, Michell Wolinsky, Zoe Mitchener and Shayla McLish placed fourth in the event (2:15.71)
Makayla Hinnant was seventh in the shot put with a toss of 9.54m on her third throw while Mitchener finished eighth in the 60m hurdles (21.53).
Along with Smith in the 200m, Gallina (13th place, 29.63), Wolinsky (16th place, 30.87), McLish (20th place, 31.87) and Wheeler (22nd place, 32.44) also participated in the 200m.
On the men's side, Brandon Julot finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11.30m on hisb second toss. Joel Gladney was eighth after he tossed a 11.05m on his last attempt while Darby Bauer was ninth in the event after a throw of 11.03m on his first attempt.
