VOTE For Junior Performance Of The Year

VOTE For Junior Performance Of The Year

BALTIMORE, Md. – Over the next couple of weeks, Goucher College Athletics is going to highlight performances of the year. While our main goal is to promote positive events that happened to the Gophers in 2019-20, we are going to add some intrigue with a voting contest with each category. Votes can be cast on the athletics website, Facebook (each like counts as a vote) and Twitter. Graphics of the nominees in each category will also be posted on Instagram, but the number of likes will not be counted from Instagram. We have received over 2,000 votes combined between the freshman and sophomore performances of the year votes!

Voting will last 36 hours, starting at 9 a.m. and ending at 9 p.m. the following night. Below is the schedule that we will follow:
April 20-21 – Junior Performance of the Year
April 23-24 – Senior Performance of the Year
April 27-28 – Game/Event of the Year
April 30-May 1- Video Highlight of the Year

Next we have the Junior Performance of the Year. This category is for one singular game or event that a junior student-athlete performed well in and in most cases so did the team.

Camryn Agostino | Women's Lacrosse
Agostino made a statement in her first game in her junior year, posting a career high in goals and matching a career best in points. The junior posted four goals and four assists in a season-opening 11-7 win against Virginia Wesleyan on February 16. Agostino registered four points in each half, starting the game with the first two goals in the first two minutes of the game and then added an assist in the first seven minutes to help a Gopher 5-0 run. She added a goal to end the half and then tallied a goal and three assists in the second half to seal the win.

Bianca Brown | Volleyball
Brown had 12 kills in a 3-2 win against Washington on September 18, but it was her play in the fifth set that made the difference in the victory. In a 4-0 run to start the deciding set, the junior had two kills and a block. With the Gophers three points from victory, Brown registered back-to-back kills before Goucher won the match on a service error. She had eight kills in the first four quarters.

Eva Bulson-Lewis | Cross Country
Bulson-Lewis notched her then best time of the season at the Goucher Cross Country Classic and finished fourth with a time of 29:52.26 to help Goucher to its second-straight home meet victory.

Adeline Callihan | Equestrian
You always want to go up against the best and that is just what Callihan did at the Winter Classic I Tournament of Champions. The junior won the novice flat against a field that included the defending national champions.

Christina Charikofsky | Women's Soccer
Charikofsky held Gwynedd Mercy off the scoreboard for 93 minutes and 27 seconds and earned the 1-0 victory on August 30 after Megan Kelleher after she scored her first collegiate goal. The junior made three saves in the contest including a pair of stops in the final 10 minutes of regulation to send the game to overtime and set up Kelleher's heroics.

Sam Gravel | Men's Lacrosse
Gravel led the defensemen against Lebanon Valley with six ground balls and six caused turnovers in a 9-7 win against Lebanon Valley on February 29. It was the best game of the junior's campaign and had two of his ground ball pickups leading directly to two of the Gophers nine tallies.

Ari Hooper | Field Hockey
Hooper had a couple two goals and one assist performances in blowout wins, but it was her performance against Eastern Mennonite on September 24 that led to a 2-1 victory. The junior tied the game at 1 with her sixth goal of the season at 13:36 in the first quarter and then passed the ball from the center to left of the goal and found teammate Meaghan Oakes for the decisive score to have a hand in both scores in Harrisonburg, Va.

Tetsuya Ota | Men's Tennis
Ota has been the 2018 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and the 2019 Landmark Conference Player of the Year and his season highlight in 2019-20 was defeating a nationally-ranked player. The junior defeated Salisbury's Alec Angradi, the No. 14 ranked player in the country and the No. 2 ranked player in the region, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, on February 23.

Christina Pevey | Women's Golf
Pevey posted a 45 on both the front and the back nine to shot a season-best round of 90 and finish ninth at the Eastern Fall Invitational on October 9.

Kathryn Shannon | Swimming
Shannon swam in three "B" finals at the Landmark Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on February 14-16. The junior posted a 13th-place standing in the 1650 free with a time of 19:40.49 and also finished 16th in both the 500 free (5:35.23) and the 1650 free (19:40.49).

Evan Yue | Men's Golf
Yue finished fourth at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview to help the men's golf team to its second-straight fall preview title. The junior carded a 39 on the front nine and a 38 on the back nine to finish with a round of 77.

Voting has ended. We will announce the winner in May!
