BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher College athletic department unveiled its All-Goucher second team during its Virtual Banquet on Wednesday.
Ari Hooper (San Diego, Calif./Poway) (field hockey), Dwayne Morton (Baltimore, Md./Waynesville [Mo.]) (men's basketball), Yaya Diabagate (Hyattsville, Md./International HS at Langley Park) (men's soccer), Adeline Callihan (Keene, N.H./Making Community Connections Charter) (equestrian) and Evan Yue (Beijing, China/IMG Academy) (men's golf) were all selected to the second team by a vote from the athletic staff.
Hooper, a junior on the field hockey team, is one of three student-athletes to be named to the All-Landmark Conference second team in 2019-20. Hooper had a breakout season and led the team with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points while also ranking third in assists and fourth in both goals and points in the Landmark Conference. Named a conference athlete of the week during the season, the junior posted two goals and an assist in wins against Ferrum on September 8 and Hood on October 8. She also had a two-goal performance against Transylvania on September 1 and a goal and two assists against Southern Virginia on September 7.
Morton, the lone senior on the All-Goucher second team, finished his standout collegiate career by averaging a team-best 14.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Goucher men's basketball team. He became the 10th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau and the first in nearly 13 years with a 3-pointer with 7:31 left in the first half against Susquehanna on February 1. Morton posted 19 games with 10+ points, four games with 20+ points and two contests with 30+ points. The senior, who scored a career-high 37 points against Cairn on December 30, paced the Landmark Conference in free throw percentage (94.6) while ranking second in 3-point percentage (41.5) and eighth in points per game.
Diabagate, a freshman defender on the men's soccer team, is the second member of the All-Goucher team to earn all-conference second-team honors. The freshman appeared in 16 games including 14 starts with three goals and an assist for seven points. He posted a tally in his collegiate debut against DeSales on August 30 and added markers Washington (Md.) on September 11 and Elizabethtown on October 26. Diabagate also dished out an assist against Gwynedd Mercy on October 29.
Callihan, a junior on the equestrian team, posted five wins on the year to help the Gophers to its 11th-straight IHSA Zone IV, Region I title. Among her five wins, she was named the top rider in the novice class against some of the best riders in the country including against the reigning national champions at the Preseason Classic Tournament of Champions, Holiday Tournament of Champions and Winter Classic I Tournament on January 25.
Yue, a junior on the men's golf team, is the lone student-athlete to be named to the All-Goucher team for the second time after earning a second-team nod last year. Yue led the men's golf team with a 75.6 strokes per round average and to its third-straight Landmark Conference title after finishing fourth at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview on October 5. He finished in the Top-17 in every match this season including the Top-10 in his last three competitions.
