Title: Assistant Coach
Phone: 410-337-6472

Geoffrey Miller begins his first season as an assistant coach on Brian Kelly's staff in 2019. From 1980-1987 he served in various athletic administration positions at Guilford College, while coaching the men’s lacrosse team. In 1986, he was named Division III’s lacrosse coach of the year.

Miller served as the Director of Athletics and Chair of the Department of Physical Education and Athletics since his arrival at Goucher from 1994-2018. Goucher won numerous conference titles under Miller’s direction and 15 teams have qualified for national tournament championship play during that time. The riding team qualified as one of the 16 teams in the equestrian national championship for the past four years, finishing seventh twice, sixth in 2013-14 and a program-best fifth in 2012-13.

The department’s 19 athletic programs combined for a grade-point average of over 3.0 throughout Miller’s tenure, which spoke to his commitment to the student-athlete model prevalent in Division III. Originally a part of the Capital Athletic Conference, Miller was one of the driving forces behind Goucher’s involvement in the formation of the Landmark Conference in 2008, a new nine-member conference of private liberal arts Division III colleges and universities.

In addition to his duties as director of athletics, Miller serves as a professor in Goucher’s graduate school. He instructs in the M.Ed. program in the concentration of sports administration and leadership.

Prior to joining Goucher’s staff, Miller served as Director of Athletics at Washington College for seven years.

A 1976 graduate of Amherst College, Miller was a four-year participant on the football and lacrosse teams and won an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Award, which he used to earn his M.S. from the University of Massachusetts in 1979.

Miller resides in Baldwin with his wife, Pamela and their yellow lab, Riley. They have three grown children, Sean, Duncan, and Sara.
