Joey Goodson Named Men's Basketball Assistant Coach At Goucher College

BALTIMORE, Md. – Head coach Tom Rose has announced the addition of Joey Goodson to his Goucher College men's basketball staff.

"I'm excited to have Joey join our staff," said Rose, who is entering his fifth season. "The knowledge from his playing and coaching experiences at St. Francis will be a great addition to our program. He has already made an impact on our players' on the court development in a short period of time.

Goodson spent two stints at his alma mater, Saint Francis University, as an assistant coach. After graduating in 2005, Goodson served as an assistant coach for three seasons with the Red Flash. He then returned for two seasons after Rob Krimmel, who was an assistant coach during Goodson's first tenure as a coach with Saint Francis, took over the program in 2012-13.

"I am honored to be a part of the Goucher men's basketball staff and thankful to Coach Rose for the opportunity," said Goodson. "Coaching and mentoring are my passion and I am excited to be part of the Gopher family."

Goodson left Loretto, Pa., in 2007-08 to serve as the top assistant at Missouri University of Science and Technology for four seasons. He helped the Miners upset then-No. 2 ranked Southern Indiana.

Goodson was a four-year letterwinner at Saint Francis University and appeared in 105 games including 62 starts with 73 steals and 193 assists while averaging 4.5 points per game in his career. He was named the Preseason Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2004-05.

Goodson played his high school basketball at Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., where he was a team captain and named one of the top five players in the area by Lindy's Basketball magazine in 2000-01.
