Peter Hawkins begins his second season on Eric Spangler’s coaching staff after helping the Gophers to their fourth-straight Landmark Conference title in 2018-19.

Hawkins came to Goucher working as a private coach since 2013 in the Washington, D.C., area. He works with competitive junior players (ages 13-17) to help them high school, collegiate and tournament goals. Hawkins also assisted Nike Tennis Camps in 2011-12.

Hawkins was a four-year letterwinner at Bridgewater College of Virginia where he posted a 51-21 dual match record in singles and 50-39 in doubles play in his career. He earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) second-team honors and All-VaSIDA (Virginia Sports Information Director Association) second-team recognition as a sophomore before being selected to the all-conference third team in his junior campaign. Hawkins had his best season of his career with the Eagles in his senior season after going 16-4 overall including 9-1 in the circuit with his lone loss coming to the ODAC Player of the Year. He was named to the All-ODAC first team for singles and doubles, All-VaSIDA first team and posted a No. 16 ranking in the South Atlantic Region on May 2, 2013 and finished his career at No. 12.

Hawkins was also a good student and was named to the ITA All-Academic team during his time in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A 2012 graduate of Bridgewater with a degree in international relations, Hawkins earned his Master’s Degree in public management from Johns Hopkins University.
