After leading Goucher College to its fourth-straight Landmark Conference men's tennis title in 2018-19, head coach Eric Spangler begins his second season at the helm of the Gophers in 2019-20.
Hired on January 2, 2019, Spangler came to Goucher from Salisbury University where he spent two years as the associate head coach for men and the assistant coach for women. Spangler also coached at Elite Level Training Facility: JTCC for four summers.
During Spangler's tenure at Salisbury, Salisbury had multiple nationally ranked singles and doubles players. At the Elite Level Training Facility Spangler coached elite level youth and adult tennis players who have gone professional and who have played in all divisions of the NCAA. He also coached players who have recently won the International Club Junior Challenge in Japan.
As a player at Salisbury, Spangler spent four years under the direction of Randy Halfpap where he made NCAA appearances for singles & doubles. Spangler was also the winningest player in the history of the SU tennis program. He received All American Singles Honors at Kalamazoo in 2016, and he was also ranked among the top 20 singles players in the nation and the top 25 doubles players in the nation.
Spangler received a Bachelor's of Exercise Science from Salisbury University in May of 2016 and a Master's of Applied Physiology from Salisbury University in December of 2018.
