TOWSON, Md. - The junior tandem of Nailah Jones (Glenn Dale, Md.) and Nicole Wolard (Tampa, Fla.) scored 14 points, apiece, to lead the Goucher College women's basketball team against Moravian on Thursday night inside the Decker Sports & Recreation Center in Landmark Conference action.
In the end, Moravian walked out of Goucher's campus with an 81-38 victory over the Gophers. With the defeat, Goucher dropped to 0-22 overall and 0-11 in the Landmark, while Moravian improved to 15-7 and 5-6 in the Landmark with the win.
On the night, Jones and Wolard led the way for Goucher, scoring 28 of the 38 points the Gophers tallied on the evening.
For Jones, it marked the first time since the Gophers' game at Scranton on Jan. 13 that she scored in double-figures in a contest. The 14-point effort was also her third highest total for the year, as an 18-point night against Alvernia back on Nov. 21 remains her season and career-high.
Wolard, meanwhile, once again scored in double-figures in a contest for Goucher. She has now scored in double-digits in seven straight games, and 17 games total for the 2017-18 season. She also pulled down 14 rebounds in the defeat, coming up just one rebound short of her season-high (15 at Notre Dame on Dec. 9). The double-double was the second straight for Wolard, along with her ninth of the season.
Leading Moravian in the win was Camile McPherson and Nadine Ewald, who scored 12 points, apiece.
The Goucher College women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Elizabethtown for another Landmark Conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
