Bio

Chris Burley enters his second season as an assistant coach at Goucher College and his 13th season of coaching overall.  As an assistant of several highly competitive high school basketball programs, Burley was responsible for managing practices and developing talent at the junior varsity and varsity levels. 

After one year at Friends High School, he spent three seasons at Towson Catholic High School, helping to build one of the nation’s powerhouse teams before leaving.  At Western High School, he helped the basketball program become arguably one of the top programs on the east coast. Burley was actively involved in parent, athletic and student affairs committees. Coach Burley also graduated several Academic All-Conference basketball players in the last seven years. His teams qualified for postseason play each season.  As an assistant coach at Western High School, Burley’s teams were three-time MPSSAA state finalists (2006, 2007, 2010) and five-time MPSSAA final four participants (2006-11). The Doves also won five Baltimore city titles (2005-09, 2011).

Coach Burley is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and Black Coaches Association. He served as the director for the Breezy Bishop Showcase, which is now known as the Beast of the East Showcase.

Burley holds a M.S. in forensic studies from Stevenson University and a B.S. in criminal justice from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.   He attended high school at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and is a graduate of the Cardinal Gibbons high school of Baltimore.

A Baltimore native, Burley enjoys all kinds of music and hanging with friends.  He is married to Tinea Burley and has three boys (Chris, Jackson and Camden).
