SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher closed out the regular season portion of its schedule at the Susquehanna Open this afternoon, with three runners posting times that ranked in the top 10 of the school's program history.
Danielle Granger (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) completed the 60-meter hurdles in 10.41, a time which was good enough for 11th place out of 28 runners. It was also the eighth-fastest time ever run by a Gopher in the event, and a new personal best for Granger.
Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) and June Chiango (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area), meanwhile, finished 11th and 12th, respectively, in the 3000m. Both cracked Goucher's top 10 in the event with Zidanic (11:42.19) ranking ninth and Chiango (11:42.96) 10th historically.
The Gophers' distance medley relay team of Kathryn Walker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh), Granger, Zidanic and Chiango recorded the highest finish of the afternoon. Their time of 13:54.54 placed them seventh out of nine competitors.
In field action, Maafio Appiah-Padi (Edmonton, Alberta/Lewisburg Area) finished 15th in both the weight throw (out of 25 athletes) and shot put (out of 30). She managed a top distance of 10.56m in the weight throw and 9.45m in the shot put.
Goucher will travel to Susquehanna for a third time this season next Saturday when the Gophers participate in the Landmark Conference Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
