TOWSON, Md. — In the last home match in the careers of Ashley Fan (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Sabina Smajlovic (Hartford, Conn./Miss Porter's School), it was only appropriate that the two Gopher seniors would combine on the match's final kill.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — With the way things played out in the Landmark Conference on Saturday, two things were certain when it came to Goucher: the Gophers were guaranteed a spot in the conference's postseason tournament for a fifth consecutive year and head coach Michael Bossom's squad couldn't improve its positioning even if it could knock off six-time defending champion Juniata today.
TOWSON, Md. — After dropping the opening set, Goucher battled back to take a 2-1 lead in its match tonight against Washington (Md.) and was two points away from finishing off the Shorewomen by winning the fourth set.
TOWSON, Md. — Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) knocked down at least 14 kills in all four matches and was Goucher's representative on the all-tournament team selected for this weekend's Goucher Invitational.
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher played four Landmark Conference matches in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center in a span of 28 hours this weekend and got off to a successful start, a 3-0 triumph over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday. The Gophers, however, couldn't build on that victory and wound up dropping the final three matches to Moravian on Saturday and to Scranton and Catholic today.
DOVER, Del. — A kill by junior outside hitter Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) — her 22nd of the match — provided Goucher with the point it needed this afternoon to complete a 3-2 victory over Wesley.
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher went 0-3 in pool play and then bowed to Brockport, the fourth-place team in the opposite pool, this weekend at the 2012 Greg "Gio" Giovanazzi Memorial Tournament for which it served as the host.
