TOWSON, Md. — The four seniors on the 2015-16 roster accounted for 32 of Goucher's 41 kills, seven of the 12 service aces and all but one of the 33 assists in tonight's match against Penn St.-Mont Alto. Each one, playing for the final time in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center, contributed to a 3-0 victory over the Nittany Lions.
Set scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-17.
The Gophers (9-15) earned only 11 of their 25 points in the opening set on kills, but still finished with a sparkling .409 attack percentage.
Hannah Kuehl (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth Regional) knocked down seven of her match-high 17 kills in the second set. She has not missed a match during her four seasons at Goucher, making this the 119th match in which she has appeared.
Contributions from the other three seniors against the Nittany Lions (13-4) included: 32 assists from Sarah Johnson (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), who is on pace to become only the second player in the history of Goucher's volleyball program to surpass 3,000 career assists, seven kills by Michelle Tweedie (Accra, Ghana/Lincoln Community School), anbd a six-kill, five-service ace performance out of Corinne Kahler (York, Pa./York Country Day).
The Gophers play their final two Landmark Conference matches of the season on Saturday in the nation's capital. They'll take on Moravian at 1:30 p.m. and Elizabethtown at 4 p.m.
