Goucher Athletics Announces Inaugural Blue And Gold Academic Team
BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College Athletics has some outstanding student-athletes on the field and in the classroom. Today we announce a new academic team to recognize our Gophers who achieve excellence academically with the Goucher Athletics Blue and Gold Academic Team.
Student-athletes that boast a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.79 will be named to the Blue Academic Team and those who register a 3.8 to 4.0 grade point average will be named to the Gold Academic Team. The members of the Academic Team will be student-athletes that achieve the marks for a semester and not their cumlative grade point average. All student-athletes are eligible for the distinction each semester and do not have to be in their playing season to earn the honor. In addition, the athletic department will create a display in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center to display the Blue and Gold Academic Team each semester.
"We have always had outstanding scholar-athletes who thrive in the classroom and truly make the most of their educational experience," said Director of Athletics Andrew Wu. "While we have sporadic opportunities to recognize these students and their accomplishments, we want to highlight academic excellence on a semester-by-semester basis. My hope is that our student-athletes who aren't on the wall are constantly striving to get there!"
Today we recognize 91 student-athletes for the Spring 2020 Goucher Athletics Blue and Gold Academic Team. The Blue Team consists of 48 student-athletes and the Gold Team registered 43 student-athletes.
The 2020 Fall Goucher Athletics Blue and Gold Academic Team will be announced after the conclussion of the fall semester.
