TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College athletic department was twice recognized for its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts during the 2023 NCAA Convention held last week in San Antonio, Texas.
During Friday's Saluting Excellence luncheon, Goucher was named Honorable Mention for the NCAA/Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) Award for Diversity and Inclusion. On Friday evening, Gopher women's soccer coach Stephanie Ricketts-Preston was recognized as a finalist for the Division III LGBTQ Administrator/Coach/Staff of the Year Award.
"I was extremely proud that our department was acknowledged for our efforts over the past several years to assess and address our DEI-related values, challenges, educational programming, and actions," said Goucher Director of Athletics Dr. Andrew Wu. "We strive to be very clear that we celebrate the identities of every individual connected to Goucher athletics and Coach Ricketts-Preston's work is a prime example of how we can make a difference through sport. I'm grateful for the collective efforts of our entire department, and specifically (Senior Associate Director of Athletics) Andrea Ricketts-Preston and (head track and field coach) Erick Camodeca, who have put in significant work to support our student-athletes and move the needle."
