Greg Royce Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Operations
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College Director of Athletics Dr. Andrew Wu announced Monday that Greg Royce, the athletic department's Director of Athletic Communications since September, 2021, has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Operations effective immediately.
"I'm excited for Greg to assume this role which will make best use of his vast experience and expertise in the field of athletics," said Wu. "We're incredibly fortunate to have Greg leading our Athletic Communications efforts and this expanded role will give him the opportunity to improve other important administrative processes within the department."
In addition to continuing to serve as the primary athletic communications contact for Goucher's 21 varsity sports, Royce will handle additional administrative duties within the department, including overseeing game management.
"I'd like to thank Dr. Wu and the Goucher College administration for the opportunity to serve our student-athletes and coaches in this expanded role," said Royce. "I am excited to continue to play a small part in offering our student-athletes the best possible experience as we build upon recent successes both on and off the field."
Since his arrival, Royce has overseen several improvements in Goucher's athletic communications program, includng the recent addition of a second graduate assistant. The Goucher athletics website went through a redesign in the summer of 2023, while the department's livestreaming efforts through the Landmark Conference partnership with FloSports have improved with additional cameras and expanded play-by-play. Cross country and equestrian have been added to the department's live stream offerings, with the stream of the 2023 IHSA Zone IV equestrian championship garnering over 1,000 viewers. Goucher also entered into a partnership with Boxout Sports as its social media graphics software provider.
A veteran athletic communications professional, Royce came to Goucher after six years at nearby Stevenson University. He was Director of Athletic Communications at Southern New Hampshire University, his alma mater, from 2007-15, while Royce has also held positions at the University of New Hampshire (2000-03) and American International College (2004-07). He recently wrapped up a seven-year tenure on the executive board of the Eastern Athletic Communications Association (EAST-COMM), serving as the organizaton's President in 2021-22.
