Dear Prospective Goucher Gopher,
I am extremely excited that you are interested in Goucher
College and our fi
eld hockey program. I have created this page to help you get a
better understanding of my expectations. I have developed my coaching philosophy from
over 30 years of coaching and playing the game that you and I both
love. Through consultation with my team we have established a set
of team expectations which take into consideration the individual
needs of each student. To help smooth the process of becoming a
student-athlete at Goucher, I have also provided you with some guidelines which I
hope you find helpful. So that I can learn more about you, please
complete and submit the online questionnaire.
I am proud to say that the rebuilding of the field hockey program is going according to plan! We now have a healthy sized roster of competitive, committed women. Our results have improved each year since I arrived in 2006 and there is no reason why the improving trend will not continue. The core strength of the team has been retained, we are a year more experienced and we will have the added bonus of the new turf field that is being constructed this summer to practice and play on. I think this is the best team Goucher Field Hockey has had for many years!
We graduated 1 senior from our 2008 squad and our incoming 2009 class will need to come in ready to compete for positions. With a senior class of 3 in 2009, there is plenty of opportunity for the 2010 class.
I regularly attend recruiting events and showcases across the east coast during winter, spring and summer. I also attend the National Hockey Festival in Indio, California over Thanksgiving break. During the summers I run my own Nike sponsored camp at Goucher College and this year I also coached at the Johns Hopkins Camp at their campus in Baltimore. You can see where I will be throughout the year by looking at my recruiting calendar (coming for 2010). Check back periodically as I update it as I plan to attend more events.
