John Caslin is into his second decade as the head coach of
Goucher’s cross country programs. In addition, he serves as
the school’s head track and field coach.
Goucher has sent two runners to the NCAA Division III Cross
Country Championships, both during Caslin’s tenure as head
coach. The first was Jeff Olenick in 2000 and he earned Division
III All-America honors by finishing in ninth place; the second was
Fraley Coles in 2007.
On four occasions, Caslin has produced the Runner of the Year in
the Capital Athletic Conference and another time the CAC Rookie of
the Year.
Academically, Caslin’s runners have performed admirably over
the years: 40 have attained national All-Academic honors from the
U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association.
