Landmark Conference Issues Winter Academic Honor Roll
MADISON, N.J. — The Landmark Conference, which is in its fifth year of competition and is comprised of eight like-minded institutions in the mid-Atlantic region, today recognized 204 student-athletes for their academic accomplishments by placing them on the 2012 Winter Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. Fifteen of the honorees are from Goucher.

TOWSON, Md. — Despite scoring only 15 points in the first half, Goucher found itself trailing Catholic by only eight points midway through this evening's Landmark Conference game in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.

No. 11 Eagles Seize Momentum, Then Lead from Gophers
HUNTINGDON, Pa. — If taking an early lead was going to help Goucher's chances of handing nationally ranked Juniata its first Landmark Conference loss of the season, the Gophers had to feel good when they started out 2-for-2 from the field this afternoon and were up 4-0 thanks to made baskets by TaQuasia Lambert (Brooklyn, N.Y./Patapsco) and Elizabeth von Ende (Leawood, Kan./American Hebrew Academy).

Gophers Unable to Complete Sweep of Crusaders
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher, which had been 0-9 all-time against Susquehanna, will have to settle for just the one victory over the Crusaders this season because the Gophers dropped the rematch between the two teams which shared seventh place in the Landmark Conference this evening in O.W. Houts Gymnasium, 63-46.

Gophers Fall Despite Holding Rangers Under 50 Points
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher held an opponent under 50 points for the fourth time this season when it limited Drew to 47 points tonight. The first three times that happened, the Gophers were victorious.

Time Runs Out Before Gophers Finish Catching Mariners
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher entered the final minute of this evening's Landmark Conference game against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy needing to make up four points in order to catch the Mariners. Going 5-for-5 from the field, with one of those being a 3-point attempt, should have helped.

Lady Royals Eventually Put Away Courageous Gophers
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher will have to wait for another day to earn its first all-time victory over Scranton in the sport of women's basketball, but head coach Didi Cotton's squad made a courageous bid to pull it off this evening in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.

Things Begin to Unravel for Gophers in Second Half
TOWSON, Md. — Until Goucher allowed Moravian to score the final six points of the first half, the Gophers and Greyhounds were never separated by more than four points in this evening's Landmark Conference game played in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center. Cassandra Phillips' successful jumper with :09 showing on the clock allowed the visitors to head to their locker room up 23-17.

Freshman Guard's 21st FT Proves to Be Final Dagger
KINGS POINT, N.Y. — Goucher, which never trailed during the entire second half, was clinging to a two-point lead in the closing seconds of regulation before Demi Vanderwal of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy canned two free throws to send today's Landmark Conference game between the Gophers and Mariners into overtime.

No. 17 Eagles Pull Away from Gophers with 17-0 Run
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher appeared to have succeeded at riding out the storm tonight after nationally ranked Juniata bolted out to a 15-point advantage before the game was even 12 minutes old. Before the first half concluded, the Gophers were able to knock their deficit down to 34-31 on a pair of free throws by Sharnell Huff (Bowie, Md./Bowie).

Greyhounds Pin 59-50 Setback on Hang-Tough Gophers
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Goucher, which has its sights set on making the Landmark Conference playoffs for the first time in 2011-12, hung with Moravian for nearly the full 40 minutes today. Even after the Greyhounds opened up their biggest advantage of the game when Alyssa Hann canned a pair of free throws to make the score 59-43 with 1:55 left to play, head coach Didi Cotton's squad closed out the game with seven straight points to make the final 59-50.

Royals Prevent Gophers from Notching Third Straight Win
SCRANTON, Pa. — Goucher went into tonight's Landmark Conference game against Scranton riding its first two-game winning streak since the 2008-09 season, but the Gophers never had much of a chance at extending it to a third game as they fell behind 9-0 in the opening 3:45 and were dealt a 79-36 setback by the Royals.

NASSAU, Bahamas — Goucher snapped a seven-game losing streak as Precious Kollock (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) scored 14 points and Sharnell Huff (Bowie, Md./Bowie) added 11 in leading the Gophers past Milwaukee School of Engineering, 48-34, this afternoon in the final game for both teams at the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout.

Gophers Find Presidents Remain in Power in Bahamas
NASSAU, Bahamas — Although 10 different players got into the scoring act for Goucher against Washington & Jefferson this afternoon, not one of them managed to tally more than six points. As a result, the Gophers were handed a 65-34 setback in the first of two games they will play at the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout.

Shorewomen Seize Momentun, Finish Off Gophers
CHESTERTOWN, Md. — It appeared as though momentum might be on Goucher's side when the Gophers tallied the final six points of the first half in the Cain Athletic Center this afternoon to reduce their deficit against Washington (Md.) from 10 points down to 33-29. But then the Shorewomen opened the second period with a 20-4 run and were on their way to a decisive 63-48 victory.

Gophers Can't Complete Comeback, Bow to Blazers
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher knocked what had been as much as an 18-point deficit midway through the second half down to four points, but couldn't quite complete the comeback against Hood tonight in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center. Instead, the Blazers, who hadn't tallied more than 48 points in a game so far this season, picked up their first win of 2011-12, a 63-58 triumph over the Gophers.

Cardinals Dominate Boards, Defeat Gophers by 30
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Goucher was outscored, 28-6, in the paint and trailed Catholic, 47-23, at the end of the first half as the two teams opened Landmark Conference play against one another tonight in the DuFour Center. The Cardinals stretched their lead to as many as 38 points in the second half before securing a convincing 81-51 victory.

YORK, Pa. — Goucher's five starters were held to a combined total of 15 points tonight and when the six players who came in off the bench were able to produce only 20 additional points, the Gophers were tagged with a 79-35 loss by York.

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher was able to knock a 12-point deficit with 6:39 left to play down to two points, but the Gophers could never wrest the lead from Mt. Aloysius as they fell to the visiting Mounties, 64-60, this afternoon in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center.

TOWSON, Md. — By shooting nearly 62 percent from the field in the first half, Goucher headed to its locker room at the break tonight up eight points on Dickinson. The Gophers cooled off a bit in the second period and even surrendered the lead when Bridget Borgese made a layup with 11:35 left to play to put the Red Devils ahead for the first time since the opening four minutes of the contest.

Builders Construct Five-Point Victory Over Gophers
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Goucher, which trailed Apprentice School by as many as 15 points on three separate occasions in the second half, put together a run of nine consecutive points to close to within 64-59 with :52 left to play. The Builders then converted just enough free throws in the time that remained to register a 69-64 victory over head coach Didi Cotton's Gophers tonight.
