Bio

Patrick Daniel was announced as Goucher's new head women's basketball coach in April, 2015, making him the seventh coach in the program’s 29-year history.

In his first season on the Goucher bench, Daniel led the women’s team to a 9-16 record, and a sixth place finish in the Landmark Conference with a 4-12 record. The nine wins were the most wins in a single season since the 2003-04 season and the sixth place finish was the highest a Goucher women’s basketball team has finished since the conference was formed in the 2007-08 season.

Daniel came to Goucher after spending three seasons at Pitt-Bradford. He was recognized as the Co-Coach of the Year in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in his first season after his team went 15-10 and in his final season (2014-15), the Panthers finished with their best overall record (17-8) since the Division III program became affiliated with the NCAA in 1997-98.

Under Daniel, who holds the distinction of being the first women's basketball coach at Pitt-Bradford with three consecutive winning seasons, the Panthers went 47-30 (.610) and he coached six AMCC all-conference selections, including a AMCC conference player of the year (2014-15), D3Hoops.com all-region player (2014-15), and a DIII Women’s News All-American Honorable Mention (2014-15).

Academically in his four seasons as a head coach at the Division III level, Daniel’s teams have achieved a minimum 3.10 team grade point average.  In the 2013-14 season at Pitt-Bradford, Daniel’s team achieved a 3.49 grade point average and were named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Academic Honor Roll (#20).  In his first season at Goucher, the women’s basketball team had a 3.24 team grade point average, which is the highest in program history.

Daniel has coached 26 all-academic conference student-athletes, including five last season who were named to the Landmark Conference All-Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Daniel's coaching career began in September 2008 as an assistant on the women's basketball coaching staff at St. Mary's (Ind.) College. He was there for three seasons before accepting a similar position at Kenyon College. In both locations, he was heavily involved in the recruiting and player development processes.

Daniel is a 1997 graduate of Towson University and he obtained a master's degree in Recreation and Sport Sciences from Ohio University in June 1998.
