Goucher College Looking For Dancer And Singers For Weird Al Yankovic Video On April 1 At 6 P.M. In The SRC
BALTIMORE, Md. – Weird Al Yankovic will be on the Goucher College campus to shoot a version of Ray Parker Jr.’s 1984 classic “Ghostbusters.” If you are interested in being a backup singer or dancer, please come to the Decker Sports & Recreation Center on Monday, April 1 at 6 p.m.
Yankovic has turned the song “Ghostbusters” into a twisted tune about Goucher men’s basketball player Timmy O’Farrell after O’Farrell hit the clutch game-tying 3-pointer against Catholic University of America at the buzzer in Goucher’s 84-82 overtime win against the Cardinals on January 23.
Yankovic the master of twisted tunes like “Amish Paradise,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Eat It” and “My Bologna” has once again taken the song “Ghostbusters” and turned it into a basketball classic thanks to O’Farrell’s heroics. Here is a preview of Yankovic’s new song:
If your down three and don’t have the ball
Who you going to call (O-FARR-ELL)
If you have a full court pressAnd it don’t look good
Who are you gonna call? (O-FARR-ELL)
This is the second time that Yankovic has used the “Ghostbuster” song trying to turn it into gold. The first time was on April 1, 2015 on the campus of Saint Peter’s University when junior Desi Washington made the game-winning 3-pointer four times in the same season including three times against Fairfield University that received national attention on ESPN. Yankovic has been looking for a way to refine the song because he thought that people were getting tired of screaming the name Desi Washington.
Goucher Director of Athletic Communications Dave Musil was the Associate Director of Athletics for Athletic Communications at Saint Peter’s when Yankovic worked on the Desi Washington version and called up Yankovic to discuss the O’Farrell shot.
“I was like Weird, how you doing?” said Musil. “This sophomore just hit a game-tying 3-pointer against Catholic and it reminded me so much of Desi’s shot. I told him how we were disappointed that we didn’t make Sports Center Top-10 and he said let’s make some O’Farrell magic at Goucher.”
