Lin and Bercovici Represent Goucher on Landmark Conference All-Decade Team
Ariel Lin and Amanda Bercovici were named to the Landmark Conference All-Decade Singles Team on Wednesday afternoon, celebrating their decorated careers at Goucher College.
TOWSON, Md. – Ariel Lin and Amanda Bercovici were named to the Landmark Conference All-Decade Singles Team on Wednesday afternoon, celebrating their decorated careers at Goucher College.
Lin was a two-year member of the Goucher women’s tennis team, earning Landmark Conference First Team honors during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. She was also named the 2013 Landmark Conference Player of the Year following a season where she posted a 16-3 overall singles record and 5-1 record in conference play at No. 1 singles.
Prior to the 2013 season, Lin had a stellar freshman campaign, going 20-1 overall in singles play and 6-0 in Landmark play at No. 2 singles. Her 20 wins in a single season broke a school record that stood for 21 years (18 wins – Betsy Weingarten).
She completed her career at Goucher with a 36-4 record in singles play, including an 11-1 record in the Landmark.
Bercovici followed Lin’s example of excellence a year later, winning Landmark Conference Player of the Year and First Team honors during the 2014 season. She went 21-4 in singles play, maintaining an undefeated (6-0) season in conference play.
Bercovici still sits atop the Goucher College season singles wins leaderboard with 21 during the 2014 season.
The All-Decade team was selected by the membership of the Landmark Conference and is announced prior to the conference championship. Athletes that were named All-Conference First Team a minimum of two times, and/or were named Landmark Player of the Year, during their career were nominated automatically, and each team had the opportunity to nominate additional individuals for consideration.
