TOWSON, Md. – Senior captain, Claire Lippay (Jenkintown, Pa.) was named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team for the 2017 season.
Lippay, who is the only four-year starter for the Gophers, tallied one goal during the 2017 season as a defender. It came during her Senior Day matchup against Moravian College on Blue & Gold Weekend. The goal opened the game for Goucher, who would eventually go on to fall in the contest.
Aside from her ability to translate defense into offense, Lippay led Goucher during the 2017 season with 22 draw controls and 32 caused turnovers. She was also second on the team in ground balls (39) and added two assists.
Lippay was much more than a top defender for the Gophers, but she was a veteran leader for a young team. Over the course of her career, she appeared in 63 games, making 61 starts. She netted exactly one goal each season and dished out a total of two assists, both of which came in 2017. The defender from Jenkintown, Pa. also accumulated 120 ground balls, 76 caused turnovers and 32 draw controls in her career.
Lippay graduates from Goucher in May with a degree in history and secondary education.
