Goucher Announces 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame Class
TOWSON, Md. – The Goucher College athletic department has announced the 2022 class of the Goucher Athletic Hall of Fame. Women's basketball and volleyball star CJ (Cass Clemons) Summers '95 and men's soccer standout Stephen Montgomery '95 comprise this year's class. In addition, the 1994-95 men's basketball team will be honored as Goucher's second Team of Distinction.
Started in 2010, the Goucher Athletic Hall of Fame will now include a total of 41 members with the induction of Clemons and Montgomery.
The 2022 Goucher Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday, September 23, 2022, as part of the College's annual Blue and Gold Weekend. More details on the ceremony will be announced shortly.
"The Hall of Fame ceremony is always a special event and opportunity to honor some of Goucher's most accomplished former student-athletes. This year, I'm particularly excited to induct two individuals long deserving of this honor who played sports underrepresented in the Hall," said Andrew Wu, Goucher Director of Athletics. "CJ immediately transformed the volleyball and women's basketball teams upon her transfer to Goucher, and Stephen, along with Hall of Famer Percy Moore, was one half of the best scoring duo in Gopher men's soccer history."
"While the men's basketball program had several successful years in the 90's, the '94-'95 team stood out as an obvious choice as the first team to win an NCAA tournament game, against the defending national champions nonetheless. Almost 30 years later, we are still talking about this group and their accomplishments, and I'm thrilled to welcome them back to campus as a group to receive this honor."
