Seven Soccer Players Named to CSC Academic All-District Team
BALTIMORE, MD- The College Sports Communicators announced the CSC Academic All-District honorees this afternoon, with several Goucher athletes earning recognition. From the men's soccer team, senior goalkeeper Ale Sternini was the lone selection. On the women's side, six players received the honor: seniors Madison Quick, Liz Hannaford, Jordan Wood, Katelyn Conrad, along with sophomores Nia George and Ashley Schwartz.
To qualify for this award, student-athletes must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and either appear in 90% of contests or start in at least 66% of them.
Sternini earned the distinction after an exceptional senior campaign. He set four individual program records and contributed to one team record. This season, he posted a single-season record of eight shutouts and became the program's all-time leader with 23 career shutouts. Over 20 games—including a Landmark Conference first-round playoff match and an ECAC Quarterfinal—Sternini recorded 117 saves with a .818 save percentage across 1765:13 minutes of play.
On the women's side, Quick was a key defender, appearing in 16 games and starting 15. Conrad, in her first season with Goucher, played in all 18 games and earned four starts. Hannaford returned to action after a season-ending injury last year, playing in all 18 contests and starting eight. Wood, the final senior honoree, started all 18 games and contributed one goal and two assists for four points.
This marks the first Academic All-District recognition for sophomores George and Schwartz. George was a standout in goal, starting all 18 games and recording 154 saves with a .647 save percentage across 1620:00 minutes. Schwartz appeared in 17 games, earning 12 starts in the midfield.
