Adriaanse, Scott Excel in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter

CARROLLTON, Va. — Despite scoring only 32 points and finishing in third place at today's riding show at Amazing Grace Stable, Goucher did not surrender its lead in the 2012-13 IHSA Zone IV Region I standings.

The 32 points earned by the Gophers today raises their total for the season to 116. Although Christopher Newport, which served as host for the show, emerged as the high point college by picking up 43 points, and Mary Washington came up with 37 points to place second, both remain behind Goucher in overall team scoring. Mary Washington is just one point back with 115 points; Christopher Newport has accumulated 110 points through the first three riding shows of the season.

The top awards won by Goucher riders were the blue ribbons that went to Laura Adriaanse (Nottingham, Pa./Unionville) and Erika Scott (Stonington, Conn./The Williams School) in advanced walk-trot-canter equitation.

Karli Postel (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Oaks Christian School) was awarded second place in open equitation over fences and open equitation on the flat.
