Goucher Equestrian Team Sends Some Members to Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - On November 13-17 several members of Goucher's Equestrian team traveled to attend the Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival.

Freshman Irene Elise Powlick (Salt Lake City, Utah) won the MAEF Flat Championship out of over 100 riders. Powlick was also the champion in the 16-17 Equitation Division and won the MAEF Open Equitation Over Fences. 

Five other riders also turned in impressive performances. Junior Courtney Sloan (Annandale, Va.) won the MAEF Open Equitation on the Flat. Sophomore Adeline Callihan (Keene, N.H.)  placed 3rd in the MAEF Novice Equitation on the Flat and qualified for the MAEF Flat Championship. Fellow sophomore Rachel Stockslager (New Freedom, Pa.) was 4th in the Schooling Hunter Over Fences and 6th in the MAEF Novice Equitation Over Fences.

Representing the freshmen at the event were Nadia Langer (Chevy Chase, Md.) and Emily Axel (Davenport, Iowa) placed 5th in the MAEF Novice Equitation on the Flat and 6th in the 16-17 Equitation on the Flat, respectively.
