Verschleiser Earns Reserve High Point as Gophers Compete at Regionals
COLLEGE PARK, MD- The Goucher College Gophers traveled to the University of Maryland to compete in the Zone IV Region I Championships on Sunday. The competition was highlighted by multiple regional champion finishes.
Hope Verschleiser was awarded Reserve High Point Rider for the region. This title was in addition to regional champion in open fences and the reserve regional champion in the open flat category. The Gophers earned additional podium finishes, with Zoe Wright-Riley earning reserve regional champion in limit flat and a third-place finish in limit fences. Adriana Hardin was named reserve regional champion in limit flat and placed sixth in limit fences.
Max Davis was awarded regional champion in the introductory flat category. Estella Smith added a third-place podium finish in limit flat. Throughout the day, Wright-Riley, Smith, and Hardin competed in the A and B sections of the limit flat category, and out of the 10 riders, all three were called back for the final heat and finished in the top three of the class.
The Gophers will return to action on Friday, March 20, when they compete in the Spring Classic Tournament of Champions at the University of Findlay.
