Verschleiser Qualifies for North American Youth Championship
BALTIMORE, MD - Goucher College equestrian rider Hope Verschleiser has qualified to compete at the FEI North American Youth Championship (NAYC), one of the premier equestrian competitions for young athletes in North America.
Verschleiser, a rising junior from Aspen, Colorado, earned a spot representing USA Zone 8 as a member of the Young Rider team. The North American Youth Championships provides top young equestrian athletes an opportunity for athletes in these age categories to compete against their peers in a Championship format similar to that of that of international senior Championships like the Olympic Games.
The FEI North American Youth Championship will take place from July 28 - August 2 in Traverse City, Michigan, as a part of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival. The schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, July 28: Parade of Nations at 5:30pm
Thursday, July 30: First Individual Qualifier at 5:30pm
Friday, July 31: Team Competition at 12:45pm
Sunday, August 2: Individual Final at 1:00pm
Verschleiser's qualification follows an impressive season, capped with an individual qualification for IHSA Nationals, as well as earning Goucher College Athletic Female Athlete of the Year in addition to winning Spring Play of the Year.
