GLEN ALLEN, VA — Nine members of Goucher's field hockey
team are being recognized by the National Field Hockey Coaches
Association for their academic accomplishments, the organization
announced today.
To be included on the NFHCA's 2006 National Academic Squad, a
student-athlete must have achieved a minimum cumulative grade point
average of 3.3 through the fall semester of the 2006-07 academic
year. Those from Goucher who made the team are: Courtney Conklin
(Ellicott City, MD/Centennial), Marissa Copan (Golden,
CO/Golden), Laura Groomes (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox
Chapel Area), Kelsey Havens (Catonsville,
MD/Catonsville), Debra Lenik (Woodstown,
NJ/Westtown School), Jen Madera (Lusby,
MD/Patuxent), Danielle Marks (Dover, PA/Dover
Area), Alyssa Rittenburg (Burlington,
MA/Burlington) and Jessica Wurzbacher
(Lutherville, MD/Towson).
In addition, Goucher was one of the 81 Division III programs which
achieved a team GPA of at least 3.0. Those that did will receive
the NFHCA's National Academic Team Award.
