In fact, the Gophers overcame a 1-0 deficit on an unassisted goal by Lindsey Frost (Columbia, MD/Hammond) with 6:30 left to play only to suffer a 2-1 setback when the Lions answered with an unassisted goal of their own with only 2:04 showing on the clock.
The game remained scoreless until, with 12:00 gone by in the second half, Jennifer White scored for Albright. Frost's goal created a 1-1 tie, but the Lions (1-0) regained the lead on a goal by Jordan Toroniewski 4:26 later.
The Gophers (0-1) were limited to only two shots the entire first half but sent a total of 12 shots at Albright goalie Rachel Hager over the final 35:00. Hager finished with six saves, including a stop on a shot by Allison Metzger (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) in the closing seconds to preserve her team's one-goal advantage.
Aline Haddad (Bangor, PA/Bangor) started her 16th consecutive game in goal for the Gophers dating back to last season, turning away 12 of Albright's 26 shots.
