Sept. 8, 2007
EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - Despite a 20-save performance out of sophomore goalie Aline Haddad (Bangor, PA/Bangor), Goucher suffered a 3-0 loss to Wilkes this afternoon.
Haddad faced a total of 33 shots in the contest and it's the fourth time in her career that she made 20 or more saves in a game for the Gophers. She also received support in the form of a defensive save from Giovanna Thomas (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area).
Thirteen shots by the Colonels (2-1) produced two goals in the first half, the first by Alyson Paulauskas 13:15 into the contest and the second by Lauren Risser with 6:20 remaining before halftime. Risser scored again in the second half as Wilkes unleashed 20 additional shots, 13 of which were turned away by Haddad.
Haddad's counterpart in goal, Julia Smith, needed to make only two saves on five Goucher shots to earn the shutout.
