Gophers Collect Second Landmark Conference Win 

Metzger Gets Assist on GWG, Makes Key Defensive Save

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher took over sole possession of third place in the Landmark Conference with a 2-1 triumph over Moravian this afternoon in Gopher Stadium.

The Gophers (2-7, 2-2 Landmark) were out-shot, 15-3, in the first half, but enjoyed a 1-0 lead at the break thanks to a goal by Kate Kramer (Alexandria, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional) that was set up by Sara Spadanuta (Hackettstown, NJ/Warren Hills).

The Greyhounds (6-5, 1-2 Landmark) unleashed 16 more shots in the second half and were able to tie the score at 1-1 on a goal by Leigh Capmbell with 26:11 remaining.

Laura Groomes (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area) put the Gophers ahead to stay when the sophomore forward tallied the first goal of her collegiate career with 10:41 left to play.

Allison Metzger (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) was awarded an assist on Groomes' game-winning goal, plus she also prevented the Greyhounds from taking a 2-1 lead by making a defensive save during the second half.

Aline Haddad (Bangor, PA/Bangor) turned in another sparkling performance in goal for the Gophers as she finished with 12 saves.
