Oct. 12, 2007
TOWSON, Md. - After falling behind 1-0 less than four minutes into today's game, Goucher was able to stay within a goal of Randolph-Macon until the latter stages of the contest before the Yellow Jackets pulled away for a 3-0 victory over the Gophers.
The Gophers (2-9) were out-shot, 13-4, in the first half, but allowed only a goal that was scored by Jill Dixon 3:35 into the game. There were less than 10 minutes remaining in the second half before the Yellow Jackets (4-8) added to their lead with goals by Alison Wheeler and Mary McCarthy.
Randolph-Macon finished with a 33-7 advantage in shots, which forced sophomore goalie Aline Haddad (Bangor, PA/Bangor) to make 15 saves. In addition, Giovanna Thomas (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area) made her third defensive save of the season in the second half to deny the Yellow Jackets a goal.
