Metzger Earns Assist, Makes Pair of Defensive Saves

Oct. 24, 2007

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher got on the scoreboard first today, but a two-goal performance by Jennifer Sauers allowed Villa Julie to depart Gopher Stadium with a 2-1 victory.

Lindsey Frost (Columbia, MD/Hammond) put the Gophers (3-11) ahead 1-0 when she tallied her third goal of the season 9:51 into the contest. Sauers' unassisted goal with 8:01 remaining in the first half created a 1-1 tie that stood up until the freshman forward struck again 7:50 into the second half, scoring her sixth goal of the season to provide the Mustangs (5-12) with a 2-1 lead.

Allison Metzger (Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) not only picked up an assist on Frost's goal, but she also made defensive saves on two of Villa Julie's 13 shots.

Goucher also finished with 13 shots. Both starting goalies - Kara Zimmerman of the Mustangs and Aline Haddad (Bangor, PA/Bangor) of the Gophers - made eight saves.
