CHANDLER, Ariz. – Eleven field hockey players represented
Goucher on the 2008 Division III National Academic Squad that was
announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
To be selected to the National Academic Squad, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 during the first semester of an academic year. Those from Goucher who earned recognition from the NFHCA were Ellie Brown (West Chester, Pa./Henderson), Mary Cadwallender (Fredericksburg, Va./The Madeira School), Marissa Copan (Golden, Colo./Golden), Laura Groomes (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area), Debra Lenik (Woodstown, N.J./Westtown School), Micki Manheimer (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), Ali Metzger (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh), Sara Spadanuta (Hackettstown, N.J./Warren Hills), Gia Thomas (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area), Sara Westheim (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and Jess Wurzbacher (Lutherville, Md./Towson).
In addition, head coach Warren Prestwich's program was one of 97 in Division III which was also named as a recipient of the National Academic Team Award by the NFHCA for maintaining a team GPA of at least 3.0.
