STEVENSON, Md. – Goucher was able to knock a three-goal deficit at halftime down to a single goal before Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham scored four times in a span of less than eight minutes and emerged with a 7-2 victory over the Gophers today at the Black-Eyed Susan Tournament.
The Gophers (0-1) can still finish as high as fifth place in the eight-team tournament with a win on Sunday over Stevenson.
Trailing 3-0, the Gophers got on the scoreboard 13:48 into the second half on a goal by Katie Kramer (Alexandria, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional). Less than two minutes later, a goal by Lindsey Frost (Columbia, Md./Hammond) sliced the Devils' lead to 3-2.
Kramer's goal was assisted by Hillary Creed (Mendon, Vt./Proctor Academy); Ali Metzger (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) was awarded an assist on the goal by Frost.
An unassisted goal by Alyssa Worbetz with 13:27 left to play bumped the Devils' lead to 4-2.
After being held without a shot in the first half, the Gophers got off five shots over the final 35:00.
