TOWSON, Md. – A goal by Lindsey Frost (Columbia, Md./Hammond) with 5:22 left to play this afternoon snapped a 1-1 tie and provided Goucher with a 2-1 victory over Bryn Mawr, ending the Gophers' 13-game losing streak against opponents from the Centennial Conference.
Frost's game-winning goal was the successful resolution of a penalty corner and was set up by Ali Metzger (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Sara Spadanuta (Hackettstown, N.J./Warren Hills). The Gophers were awarded eight penalty corners in the game compared to five for the Owls (1-2).
The Gophers (1-2) also finished with a 17-2 advantage in shots, but quickly fell behind 1-0 on a goal by Anna Ellis just 1:20 into the contest. There were just over four minutes remaining in the first half when Goucher pulled even on a goal by Katie Kramer (Alexandria, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional).
"They go ahead 1-0 on really their only dangerous scoring chance all day," Goucher head coach Warren Prestwich said of the Owls. "It was good to see that we didn't panic once we fell behind."
The last time Goucher defeated a member of the Centennial Conference was a 5-0 triumph over Bryn Mawr on August 31, 2002.
