BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher prevented an opponent from getting off a single shot for the first time since 2004 today when the Gophers accomplished the feat in a 2-0 non-conference victory over Notre Dame (Md.).
It was on October 19, 2004, that a Goucher opponent last failed to attempt at least one shot in a game. That day the Gophers defeated Hood, 2-0, and finished with a 25-0 advantage in shots.
Today, head coach Warren Prestwich's squad unleashed a total of 21 shots and scored a goal in each half. With just under 10 minutes remaining before halftime, sophomore forward Catherine Armao (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) tallied the first goal of her career, providing the Gophers (2-4) with a 1-0 lead at the break.
Katie Kramer (Alexandria, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional), who picked up an assist on Armao's goal, made the score 2-0 in favor of the Gophers (2-4) when she notched her third goal of the season with just 5:21 left to play.
Mary Cadwallender (Fredericksburg, Va./The Madeira School) was awarded an assist on both of Goucher's goals.
