TOWSON, Md. – Goucher managed to keep Susquehanna off the scoreboard for all 70 minutes of regulation, but the Crusaders needed less than four minutes once the game went into overtime to tally the goal that produced a 1-0 Landmark Conference victory over head coach Warren Prestwich's Gophers.
The two teams combined to take only three shots the entire first half. The Gophers (3-8, 0-2 Landmark) out-shot Susquehanna, 5-4, in the second period, but neither team was able to put one past the other's goalie.
The lone goal of the contest was scored 3:55 into sudden-death overtime by Susquehanna's Jenelle Anthony.
During regulation, freshman Chloe Dircks (Williamstown, Mass./Williston Northhampton), who went the distance in goal for Goucher, was credited with five saves. Her counterpart, Erin Ferguson, made four saves, all in the second half.
