HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Goucher found itself in the role of spoiler today when it took on Juniata in the final game of the season, knowing a win could keep the Eagles out of the Landmark Conference playoffs.
But on this particular day, there was no denying the Eagles, who earned their spot in the playoffs with a 6-0 victory over head coach Warren Prestwich's Gophers (4-14, 0-6 Landmark).
The Eagles (7-12, 3-3 Landmark) scored four goals off of 16 shots in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Paula Price at 13:14. The remaining goals in the first half were scored by Molly Snyder at 21:14, Kara Buda at 27:04 and Caitlyn Bowman at 31:21.
In earning the shutout for Juniata, goalie Abby Funk was tested only one time and made a save on a shot by Katie Skojec (Columbia, Md./Hammond) in the second half.
For Goucher, goalies Chloe Dircks (Williamstown, Mass./Williston Northhampton) and Micki Manheimer (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) made a combined total of 12 saves.
