Gophers Conclude Season with 3-1 Loss to Royals
SCRANTON, Pa. — Goucher pulled into a 1-1 tie with Scranton this afternoon when Mary Cadwallender (Fredericksburg, Va./The Madeira School) tallied her fourth goal of the season 13:23 into the second half of the Landmark Conference contest. But the Royals answered with a pair of goals just :44 apart later in the period and pulled out a 3-1 triumph over head coach Warren Prestwich's Gophers.
Cadwallender-from-Metzger Goal Creates 1-1 Tie in Second Half
SCRANTON, Pa. — Goucher pulled into a 1-1 tie with Scranton
this afternoon when Mary Cadwallender (Fredericksburg,
Va./The Madeira School) tallied her fourth goal of the
season 13:23 into the second half of the Landmark Conference
contest. But the Royals answered with a pair of goals just :44
apart later in the period and pulled out a 3-1 triumph over head
coach Warren Prestwich's Gophers.
The only goal of the first half was scored by Scranton's Elizabeth Carugan at 8:28. The Royals (9-10, 2-4 Landmark) outshot the Gophers, 10-2, in the opening 35:00.
Allison Metzger (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) picked up her third assist of the season on Cadwallender goal, but the 1-1 tie lasted for only 12:29 before Carugan struck again, scoring her eighth goal of the season at 56:52 to put Scranon ahead 2-1. Kaitlyn Tirney closed out the scoring with her fourth goal of the season at 57:36.
This was the final game of the season for the Gophers (4-13, 0-6 Landmark).
