Gophers Dig 3-0 Hole, Bow to Seahawks in Opener

Ali McIntosh tallied the first goal of the contest, putting the visiting Seahawks (1-0) ahead 1-0 at 19:37. Lauriann Parker, who was awarded an assist on McIntosh's goal, scored a pair of her own just :34 apart, providing St. Mary's with a 3-0 advantage at the break.
Just 1:06 into the second half, Rachel Heiss knocked in a loose ball in front of the net to make the score 4-0.
The Gophers (0-1) notched their only goal of the contest with 7:30 left to play. Ali Metzger (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and Catherine Armao (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville) both got off shots during a flurry in front of the net and Armao was able to poke in a rebound following a save by Zia Frazier, the third player to see action in net for the Seahawks.
