The Lions (5-3) enjoyed a 12-5 edge in shots in the first half, but managed only a goal by Gia Boscola midway through the period. Junior Micki Manheimer (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), who started in goal for the Gophers, was credited with six saves in the opening 35:00, plus senior defender Charlotte Zimmerman (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) prevented goals by making a pair of defensive saves in support of her goalie.
The Gophers (2-4) fell behind 2-0 on a goal by Caitlin Feldman 6:22 into the second half and then 3-0 on a goal by Ashleigh Bradley just over nine minutes later.
Manheimer finished with 12 saves.
