YORK, Pa. — Goucher traveled north of the Mason-Dixon Line today for the final time this season and suffered a 3-0 loss to York.
The Spartans (9-8) scored twice in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead 14:48 into the contest on a goal by Brittany Simmons and then a 2-0 advantage 8:21 later on a goal by Kelly Kreamer. Colleen O'Rourke set up the first goal when she fed a pass to Simmons in front of the cage; Katie Dawkins was awarded an assist on Kreamer's goal after she collected a failed clear by the Gophers (4-10).
Thr only goal of the second half was tallied by Sandee Reich with 11:09 left to play. On a penalty corner, O'Rourke passed the ball to Reich, who fired a shot past the goalie inside the near post.
The Gophers, who have games against in-state rivals Notre
Dame (Md.) and Stevenson and a home Landmark Conference contest
against Scranton remaining on their schedule, were outshot
22-10.
