Mighty Macs Hang On for 2-1 Victory Over Gophers
EAST WHITELAND TWP., Pa. — There were still more than 15 minutes remaining today when two freshmen hooked up on a goal for Goucher that carved Immaculata's lead in half. But that turned out to be as close as the Gophers would get as the Mighty Macs held on for a 2-1 victory.
Benzel Sets Up Ossorio's Goal for Team-Leading Fourth Assist
EAST WHITELAND TWP., Pa. — There were still more than 15 minutes remaining today when two freshmen hooked up on a goal for Goucher that carved Immaculata's lead in half. But that turned out to be as close as the Gophers would get as the Mighty Macs held on for a 2-1 victory.
There were only :13 remaining in the first half when Immaculata assumed a 1-0 advantage on an unassisted goal by Ashley O'Donnell.
The Mighty Macs (3-7) went ahead 2-0 midway through the second half on a goal by Katie Becker, but just 1:21 later, Anneke Ossorio (Lafayette, Colo./Kent Denver School) put the Gophers (4-4) on the scoreboard by tallying her second goal of the season.
Taylor Benzel (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) picked up her team-high fourth assist of the season on Ossorio's goal.
Immaculata finished with a 9-3 edge in shots.
