Junior Defender Among Div. III Leaders in Defensive Saves
MADISON, N.J. — Katie Gallagher (Green Brook, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional), who is among the Division III national leaders in defensive saves, is Goucher's only representative on the 2011 All-Landmark Conference Field Hockey Team.
As revealed today, the team includes 24 student-athletes, with at least one from each of the seven institutions in the Landmark Conference which sponsor field hockey as an intercollegiate sport. Position-by-position voting was done by the head coaches and the balloting produced 12 first-team selections and an equal number of players on a second unit.
Gallagher, a junior who started all 16 games for the Gophers this season, is a second-team All-Landmark defender for the second year in a row. The nine defensive saves she made led the team and the Landmark Conference, and according to NCAA statistics, only five Division III players in the nation registered more defensive saves in games played as of Oct. 30.
Gallagher also supplied the Gophers with one goal and a pair of assists in 2011.
