Lions Advance with 7-1 Triumph Over Gophers

Loss Drops Goucher Into Consolation vs. Gators
BRYN MAWR, Pa. — Goucher scored a goal on its only shot of the first half today, but it didn't happen until the Gophers had already spotted Albright a 4-0 lead. The Lions went on to record a 7-1 victory to advance to the championship game of the Bryn Mawr College Tournament.
The Gophers (1-2) will play Notre Dame (Md.) in Sunday's consolation game. The Gators were beaten by Bryn Mawr, 9-1, today.
Albright went up 1-0 on a goal by Mackenize Faight just 2:19 into the contest and 2-0 on a goal by Alyssa Tourdot at 14:55 of the first half. Allison Dombrowski tallied back-to-back goals for the Lions (2-1) just 5:35 apart as the lead ballooned to 4-0 before Justine Ruhlin (Cornish, Maine/Sacopee Valley) got the Gophers on the scoreboard with her first goal of the season with exactly eight minutes to play in the opening period.
Megan Meluskey (Wilmington, Del./Concord) was awarded an assist on Ruhlin's goal.
In the second half, the Gophers were able to get off 11 shots, but were never able to add to their goal total. Marguerite DeLucas, who started in goal for the Lions and played the entire contest, made all nine of her saves over the final 35 minutes.
Demie Huffman (Granville, Ohio/Granville), a freshman who has started all three games so far this season for Goucher, finished with seven saves.
Chelsea Klein accounted for two of Albright's three goals in the second half.
