There were just four seconds remaining when Justine Ruhlin (Cornish, Maine/Sacopee Valley) tallied her team-leading 11th goal of the season in a 3-1 Landmark Conference loss to Drew.
Annie Carter (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline) was awarded an assist on Ruhlin's goal, which came on Goucher's sixth and final shot of the contest. Carter sent a diagonal pass ahead to Ruhlin, who one-timed the ball in for the 33rd goal during her four seasons with the Gophers.
Only three players in the history of Goucher's field hockey program scored more goals during their careers than Ruhlin.
The Rangers (2-10, 1-3 Landmark) led 1-0 before the game was even seven minutes old thanks for a goal by Michelle Fallon that was assisted by Michele Pozyc.
A successful penalty stroke by Amber De Marco with 10:16 remaining in the first half put Drew up 2-0.
Drew, which outshot Goucher, 14-1, in the first 35 minutes, was held to one goal on six additional shots in the second period.
Demie Huffman (Granville, Ohio/Granville) was in goal for the Gophers for the entire game and finished with seven saves. Sarah Cost (Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic) came to her rescue once late in the first half, preventing a goal by making a defensive save on a shot by Melissa Boyd.
