TOWSON, Md. — Jackie Juarez (Glendora, Calif./Glendora) scored two goals and picked up an assist and Lizzie Barmisnki (Ventura, Calif./Buena) tallied her team-leading sixth goal of the season as Goucher pinned a 4-1 setback on Moravian this afternoon on Beldon Field.
It was the first Landmark Conference game of the season for both teams.
The game was only two minutes old when Juarez put the Gophers (6-1, 1-0 Landmark) up 1-0 with an unassisted goal. The freshman forward/midfielder's assist and second goal of the contest took place later in the first half and were separated by only 38 seconds. She was awarded an assist on a goal by Emily Jewell (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) at 17:57 and then notched her fifth goal of the season at 18:35.
Erin Field (Sidney, Maine/Messalonskee) assisted the second of Juarez' two goals.
Less than eight minutes into the second half, an unassisted goal by Barminski provided Goucher with a 4-0 advantage.
The Gophers have yet to allow a goal in the first half of a game this season. They were less than a minute away from shutting out the Greyhounds (4-5, 0-1 Landmark) when Erin Tiwold drove through the defense to score her seventh goal of the season with only 15 seconds showing on the clock.
The home team finished with a 16-3 edge in shots.
Today's victory extends Goucher's winning streak to six games, which is the field hockey program's longest since the 1994 team got off to a 7-0 start.
